Personally, I'm a strong advocate for informed consent. Let kids (who are lucky to have supportive parents) and their doctors TRY different alternatives. Mistakes WILL be made, but if we approach it rationally, we'll learn from the mistakes and make adjustments. Over time, we'll move towards protocols that work fairly well for the tranners.
