Is this still Norwood or just short (and light) hair?

IMG_7699.jpg - 2316x1854, 960.37K

It's over.

be serious

It's thin

Shave your head, it's over for you

If it's mpb, it's over.

Is this julie?

julie? did ur minox stop working?

Do you think it will just grow longer normally? I think in that case I would be fine with it

it won't. they're not terminal hairs so will be pretty short and fluffy

I stopped minox for a couple months because it was irritating my scalp and giving me a red rash. Started using it again now. Also let my fin and bica run out and trying to go without them rn as using them didn’t reflect in my blood tests or feminization

wait I just realized this is a troll thread with an old pic. not sure if actually julie posting or not but definitely not serious

hahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahaahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHhahahahahHahhhaahahhahaAahahhaHAHAHAHA

this is a pre-hrt pic you had saved.. right???

you need to take dutasturide i told you this like a year ago julie!!

this pic is from today and I am serious

Ok. How often do you take dutasteride?

Is it 0.5mg per day?

Not that anon, but yes .5mg a day. I've been taking it for years and will never stop. You shouldn't stop taking minox btw it can totally reverse your gains. You have pretty severe hair loss I would be doing everything possible. Look up microneedling too btw and nizoral shampoo.

who do you order from? I found DashPCT as the cheapest listing on hrtcafe but I would need to order 36 x 10 tablets for 1 year of stuff and I am not sure that amount goes through customs

i’m in us so idk about germany but i got 200 tablets delivered no problem

But I have the same kind of hair on my temples and they have progressive gotten longer

I'm American and I have a prescription that is luckily covered by insurance which is extremely difficult to do. Idk why but most doctors will not understand why preventing hair loss is pivotal in a successful gender transition thus medically necessary. I do remember buying duta from inhouse pharmacy like 10 years ago it was really expensive.

I'll try to ask my doctor again on monday, but he has been refusing it in the past. I'll try to specifically say it’s because of my transition and problems with hair loss

Idk how things work in Germany, but I would just find a different doctor if possible. I have zero tolerance for doctors that give me any kind of resistance. My current doctor is great I'm her only trans patient for many years now she only took me on as a patient because she was curious about transgender people and hadn't had any experience. Don't take no for an answer explain to them you're going to just selfmed if they won't prescribe you.

well it would be REALLY hard to find a different good doctor if he got pissy at my because of that behavior. He is really nice, just somehow worried about dut and insisted that my 120pg/ml DHT is totally fine and low. Technically it’s low for men and normal for cis women but maybe it’s DHT sensitivity? Or my hair just needs more time to grow and minox? I don’t know and that is the worst part, not knowing the reason and solution

Thinning hairs grow slowly and are really fragile, they can grow longer and fill in the area better for sure, but you just have to make sure you're very careful with brushing it. Slowly, right after towel drying it, grabbing sections of hair and brushing from the tips and working your way up. With thin hair avoid blow dryers entirely

Oh jeez Jules I feel bad for you. Your follicles clearly have extremely high androgen sensitivity. There is no proper level of dht for you it should be as low as it possibly can be. The doctors are ignorant or aren't treating you as a female patient. Any amount of DHT that reaches your scalp is actively working against your hair regrowth.

For a sec I thought you posted an old pic of my hair lmao, just keep using minoxidil, keep ur t levels low and you’ll be fine.

This is 2 years into HRT and minox. Is that bad or will it get better?

I'll try calling my doctor on monday and begging him. For now I'm sitting here anxious, choked up and trying not to cry. I hate how this is my reality that I have to live with. My boyfriend can never introduce me to his parents because what if they see my thin hair

Oh shit yeah that’s not good, this is def something you should be concerned about. What do ur hormone levels look like?

You can always hide it pretty well with brown eyeshadow but it’s not great for scalp health long term and is a pain to wash out

There is absolutely no way to tell that Julie we're not fortune tellers. You should mentally prepare to have thin hair for the rest of your life, but you have to do everything you can to improve your odds now while you're young. Microneedling, nizoral shampoo, dutasteride, minox etc etc every hair loss forum will tell you about all of these things at great length and detail. Don't just sit idle and wait for things to get better do everything you can.
Don't beg him you're giving him authority over you by being vulnerable. Explain to him matter of fact and confidently why it's so important to have dutasteride. If it's really hard to find doctors there just don't burn bridges with him. I thought Germany was supposed to have really nice healthcare :/ kinda surprised. I pay for any of my hrt it's literally paid for by the state I live in..

Germany is a conservative country with okay state mandated healthcare but the trans healthcare isn’t great. A lot of doctors and therapists gatekeep and you have endos who know nothing and will prescribe you 100-50mg of cypro and 2mg oral E or gel. My doctor is a saint compared to them, he thinks I am on 2x2mg oral daily and I am sure he would raise that dosage without problems. He also prescribes my lupron.
If my doctor doesn’t give me duta I'll DIY it and hopefully it won’t get seized. 100$ for 1 year is totally fine

You can get Dut on Teleclinic within a day. Post a picture of your head, say you don't want Finasterid and instead Dut, and they'll give it to you with that head.

For context I looked like this 2 years ago though. Is this just a part of a progress or the end?

IMG_1157.jpg - 3024x3602, 2M

100 for 1 year is very very affordable. I remember paying a lot more than that many years ago on inhouse pharmacy. You should jump on that as soon as possible and yeah do not settle for finasteride, it's a completely inferior medication.

Regrowth has completely finished by 2 years HRT. If you still look like this it is over

Don't take this bait Julie. There is absolutely no way of knowing when your gains will max out. Do what I said and cover all your bases and then you can sit and wait for results.

Don't listen to the truth

2 years is a lot of time, I saw the end result of my progress about a year in. It’s normal fr your hair to be thinner in these areas but it’s possible your application of minoxidil is inconsistent, actually apply it to your scalp and not just let your hair soak it. Apply it consistently at least once a day (ideally twice). I’m no pro, only talking from experience but if you don’t see more progress after several months of a changed up routine this may be the extent of your regrowth. You might have to consider saving up for hair transplant sorry to say

You don't know shit you're just punching down at someone suffering more than you. It's sickening to me.

Nizoral sucks ask your doctor for Ketoconazole 2%. Use it 3-4 times a week anytime your scalp gets itchy and dry.

Miconeedling is iffy but many have good results with it, but at least get one of those cheap scalp scrubbers and give your scalp a gentle but firm massage when you're in the shower shampooing. Let the shampoo sit on your scalp for 5 minutes before you wash it off.

Take 5000 Biotin daily because you need any bit of root strengthening possible.

Always wear a hat when out in the sun but never wear a hat all day every day.

Finesteride/Duta are a must because you need to eliminate DHT in your follicles at all cost.

Topical Minoxidil is then only proven method to regain lost hair and you must use it every day, never skip, and never stop or you lose all of your regrowth. This is forever.

No smoking, no vaping, no caffeine, no heavy hair oils or products. Drink tons of water every day. You want to unconstrict your blood vessels in the scalp as much as possible or you can't let your roots breath and grow.

Other than that I don't know what to tell you. You're basically already bald dude. I doubt you'll have much luck outside of hair plugs and possibly going the Shaniqua route and get getting yourself a nice wig.

This is all of the hair knowledge I've learned from the internet. Use it as you will. I'm so blessed to not have your hairline. It's as bad as you think.

Trying that right now. If it works you are a saint

It worked for me, can't guarantee anything but a few people I know who switched from Finasterid to Dutasterid had success through it. But idk if you use Fin before, so it might not work, probably should though.

I got it but it’s a Privatrezept and 26€ for 30 pills ouch. I can afford that though

Yeah it's price-y, getting it from a doctor is cheaper but also how I know doctors good luck getting them to do anything off-label.

No problem I'll start minox again. How do I deal with it making my hair greasy though? Dry shampoo is going to make my scalp even more dry. I am fine with using minox once daily and washing my hair every 2-3 days, but if I apply minox twice daily then it really messes with my hair. Also, I rub/massage it in. That is correct right?

oh ALSO my scalp is really tight, so quitting caffeine is good right? And I need to moisturize it? Any advice much appreciated!!

Yes massage it in. I started in a worse position you’re in now and my scalp is not noticeably thinner unless you’re really looking for it. DO NOT STOP TAKING MINOXIDIL. If you’re starting up again remember that you’re going to probably experience a shed, this is going to suck but you have to power through it. You should start seeing results in 4-6 months and final results about a year in. Have patience and kindness for yourself in this time. I only apply once a day before I go to bed and I get it out of my hair the next morning. Works fine. If you’re shampooing more often compensate with deep conditioning once a week. Good luck <3

I haven't found a good hair oil yet desu. I also have a sensitive scalp so anlot of oils I put in my hair tend to make me itchy and most oils can be cloggy and bad for your porea. Sometimes I think too much oil will interfere with your shampoos/minox so I don't know.

Caffeine and nicotine are big no-nos for aging skin/hair in general so those are two big time "stop asap" type deals. In your case I wouldn't use caffeine at all. At least start to ween off (to avoid caffeine w/ds) and get off of it completely.

Not that anon but I use a pricey teatree hair putty to give my hair some instant pliable volume after I wash it and it's kinda dry. Also I believeeee that nicotine is much much worse for aging/hair than caffeine is. I love coffee and drink it everyday and I look very young for my age but thats my anecdotal experience I also do my skincare and blah blah all that.

if you become jewish you can keep your head covered 24/7 :3
or muslim and wear burka

FPB and thinning with age and due to DHT are still things if you're not up on minoxidil or at least finasteride (or dutasteride, I'm trying that next if after a year I'm not happy with my results from fin)
