Today British trans women find out if they will have human rights or not

Judges at the Supreme Court are to consider how women are defined in law in a landmark case brought by Scottish campaigners.

It is the culmination of a long-running legal dispute which started with a relatively niche piece of legislation at the Scottish Parliament, but which could have big UK-wide implications.

It will set out exactly how the law is meant to treat trans people, and what it really means to go through the gender recognition process.

And it could have implications for the running of single-sex spaces and services, and how measures aimed at tackling discrimination will operate in future.

the GRC recognises you as your desired sex "for all purposes"

"uhhh this is so confusingggg we need guidance what does this meannn"

are people who aren't women not human?

No, only women are human.

So trans women saying they are women means they are trying to claim humanity. Ofcourse we don't deserve rights, only humans do.

I wonder if that's why they're only defining women and not women and men.

So trans women saying they are women means they are trying to claim humanity. Ofcourse we don't deserve rights, only humans do.

This is literally sarcasm btw, I quite like having human rights

It means that they these hate groups may one day have to treat others well lol

Any British trans women looking for refuge? I will take in any pre op trans woman under the age of 25. I am around 50, so you can be my daughter/wife. I will pay for surgeries, such as orchies, face or breasts implants.

pre op

implying you'll let them get the op

Duplicitous chasoid lies

spiritually british sex pest behaviour

Nobody but the shitskins in britain have human rights.

I don't know why everyone on both sides makes it so complicated, if someone looks like a woman they are a woman

Black people look like monkeys, should we take away their human rights?

Can you place bets on the outcome of court cases?

Not currently but once american online sports betting culture hits the UK you'll be able to bet on how the judge will part his hair this morning

This is too complex for them!!
But in this world I wouldnt bet money that the court says exactly that just because we live in clown world.

I would personally pay for an orchie. Is that not enough?

Duplicitous liar cannot explicitly admit to their trickery when called out, pathological perhaps

It actually doesn't, it allows exceptions, which basically means it's pointless because phobes get to define what a valid exception is.
The one upside of the UK is that TERFs are extremely retarded. They basically have what they want in regards to the GRC but because they don't like the fine print they're sperging out about this rather than attacking something more significant.

It's going to be hard to argue with a legally binding document we can hope

You're really comparing an inverted penis wound with a little clitty? Your balls are only good for wearing chastity cages. Other than that, an orchie is cuter.

Which is it, daughter or wife? Because those are two different roles!

of course you do but you're not human, therefore, you don't deserve them. maybe the same rights as animals, but human rights are beyond you

It worked perfectly fine for a long time until JK Rowling decided to fund For Women, and suddenly its an emergency crisis, which isn't an emergency in Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, France etc

Its only an issue in the UK where the people here so enlightened

Where you putting your money?

I am human, silly anon

our odds don’t seem that bad, tho i’ve been wrong before and don’t know enough about the CoJ to anticipate how they’d lean. (as an american, i’m used to these cases being a political game designed to subvert popular legislation, but maybe they do something else in shrek country?)

you and your ilk have yet to prove that you are
the denial of biology and reality. fighting against your dna, the code that determines what you are.

dna in my mouth anon.

you and your ilk have yet to prove that you are the denial of biology and reality

we haven’t proved we’re defying physical laws by for most intents and purposes looking and acting and being non-agab sex

you’re right.

This is a political game but the courts are generally far less partisan than they are in the states. Idk how much Americans tend to know about this but this is going through Scottish Court because of a play by the former first minister of Scotland. She baited British Parliament into blocking a self ID reform Bill to Stoke Pro independence sentiment. Notably JKR is English and a Unionist (anti-independence) who just lives in Scotland so the issue has developed some overlap. This is an appeal because they lost this case in the lower courts, I think they'd be hard pressed to win since they already lost and the GRC itself is pretty bulletproof (hence why they're focusing on the equality act instead)

Not in my house!

(Worth noting on the Scottish courts thing that this ruling would likely still affect the rest of the UK)

*the relationship between the seld id reform bill isn't that the court case is about the bill, the bill is dead since the block still stands. The relationship is that the issue became a lightning rod in Scotland specifically because it became important to Scottish politics

It wasn't a play by Sturgeon, it was a blunder. She was incompetently trying to boost her liberal credentials. Sturgeon is instinctively afraid of confrontation so despite self-ID being in the 2016 SNP manifesto (back when UK PM Theresa May also supported GRA reform), Sturgeon tried to avoid controversy with by delaying the bill in endless consultations. That meant that it got pushed post-covid and post-TERF-derangement-of-the-UK-press, by which point the Conservative government were desperately seeking a culture war issue to grandstand on, and so the much-delayed Scottish bill was vetoed on spurious grounds. If it was some super-clever strategy to boost independence she wouldn't have resigned during the fallout and its confabulation with the Isla Bryson case.
The UK government previously vetoed a bill for a consultative independence referendum (and, inexplicably, a bottle recycling scheme!), which would be much better ground for boosting pro-independence sentiment, but she totally failed to capitalise on that despite the court using fairly inflammatory rhetoric about Scotland losing her status as a nation and becoming just another British possession.

You're right that it's a particular issue in Scotland, but tragically the dynamic is really one of malice-vs-incompetence instead of good-vs-evil.

ban transgengenderim

I mean I don't think it was super-clever, obviously it didn't work so im happy to call it a blunder, either way everybody knew it was probably going to be blocked (given the precedent you provided and the fact it was all over the media at the time) and it was definitely used to play into the rhetoric of enlightened free university Scotland vs miserly bitter England. I think you're right about results for sure but I was more talking intent - pushing a doomed bill is something you only do to play political games

i think i understand. i gotta say, it would be really neat to have a country which ties its grassroots nationalist initiative to NOT hating trannies for once. (that said, my most contemporary reference for scottish culture is thinking twink heroin-chic ewan mcgregor’s real hot, so idk what the lived scottish tranny experience is like rn.)

Eh, I guess what I'm focused on is that it was a bill that would've passed without much trouble in 2016-19, and even later on the veto came as a surprise because it was basically unjustifiable in terms of norms about vetoing Holyrood legislation until that point. (e.g. Holyrood's gay marriage legislation wasn't vetoed despite having a bigger cross-border impact)
It's an interesting case study in Britain's slow-burning institutional derangement on the UK side and a little case study in why risk aversion can blow up in your face on the Scottish side

I just don't understand why people are so happy to roll over and get raped to death just to get one over on "the other guy"

Semantics
All of it

I love my aesthetic, fuck my genetics

But anon, hating trannys is part of British culture!

truly, then, not hating trannies is the most radically anti-british act a scot can undertake.

And thus we realise that "British" means "England and her submissive lackeys" rather than a contiguous culture

Honestly the difference between the continent and England is so extreme.

I got abroad, I have smiles, people are friendly, people in shops talk to me nicely.

I get back to England and at the airport two lads screamed in my face YOU'RE A MAN and ran off. Just what I want at 1am after a flight. Something deeply wrong with these people.

Nuke this dump.

jesus yeah that’s about what i’ve heard from yall. here, going from northeastern city to midwestern city (or, if you’re suicidal, florida and friends) is always a mixed bag. shit, i got tranny friends in boston who still get harassed on the street (tho there not being white makes you stand out a lot more).

abolish UK, create new nations solely based on silliness of accent.
