Can confirm, my deceased grandpa was a Lithuanian "partisan" during WW2.
Except, as I got older and put more of the pieces together about the story, I realized he was probably a collaborator in a German-run militia. Like, he talked about being stationed to guard a jet engine factory while it was being scuttled ahead of the Soviet invasion and I'm pretty sure Lithuania wasn't building any aircraft, let alone jet aircraft, in WW2. Probably fled to Memel after the 1939 ultimatum because "fuck the Soviets" and just got caught up in how things turned out from there.
Definitely warped his perception of politics after that. He read the conservative rag newspapers religiously and we found a hide-y hole with supplies under the garage floorboards a few years after he died. I don't blame him considering that literally being hunted by Soviet military police during your teenage and young-adult years would fuck a guy up.
