It's not 50/50 because the way males & females reproduce is fundamentally different. This results in something called sexual dimorphism or what you could just call as profound differences between the sexes. One man can easily impregnate multiple women at little to no cost for himself (as in he doesn't need to commit much time or resources into his offspring) whereas women can only produce 1 child at a time at a greater cost to her own saftey. This ultimatetly leads to women being picky, or hypergamous, and men vying for womens favour. Additionally the threshhold required to reproduce is far, far lower for women (she nerely needs to spread her legs anywhere, anytime) 80% of women reproduced with only a small subset of men who had to compete against other men for the chance of taking a women (war, or whatever). Sidenot this is why men are stronger, smarter, more rational, etc. because they underwent far harder selection pressures historically. Only the best of the best made it each generation and so on.
