nta but this is how i think you can (kind of but not really) defend it. as a psychoanalytic retard, children do have a form of sexuality, it's just primitive and undirected. but as a society we've pushed this down with a narrative of purity. children are meant to be happy in their obedience, playful but only within the confines set out for them. children are often depicted as representing societal ideals that really have nothing to do with them, like heteronormativity, when it's for example pretty common for children to have gay 'crushes' before puberty (they cannot reasonably be called sexual but something like presexual) or to have fun wearing dresses/makeup/etc. when it's not discouraged. so i agree with the statement that children are not so straight and narrow as adults would like (or a lot of children would have them believe, since they pick up on what adults want and perform it for them).
