Judee Sill is a folk singer who wears a cowboy hat sometimes too. She was bisexual, which is board relevant. She did a bunch of psychadelics and went to prison for her role in bank heists, where she found god and then dropped a couple of crazy folk records before also tragically dying. But of overdose though. Her lushly arranged tracks cover psychedelic, religious, and romantic themes, with crazy instrumentation and woodwinds and stuff just to flex on you. I am very particular with punk and other noisier stuff though, often I might just find it too abrasive unless a band/artist has a particular sound or style I really like, that said I have also had the new viagra boys album on a lot which is a lot more silly but still really really good

Elizabeth Cotten is well known as a guitarist's guitarist. She learned lefty but on a regular guitar, bc it was all she had as a kid, so as a result a lot of her songs and playing style is very weird and unique and cool. She wrote Freight Train, a now classic folk standard, when she was like 9 years old. She didnt really get (re)discovered as a recording artist until she was like in her 40s and 50s, so a lot of our recordings of her are from way later in life. She was like married or something, I forget. I don't think shes gay tho, sorry. Also shes not wearing a cowboy hat but shes more country than you'll ever be. Mad?
