I thought Doom 2016 had too much padding but Eternal was the sweet spot. The Bungie Halo games are my favourite games in this genre. They’re right in the sweet spot too but even more. It feels like we don’t get many great FPS campaign games nowadays unfortunately.

they know how to make a good game like that but they don t want to take the risk bc is stupid, they go for a mid safe game that can be also padded out and extra content versions bundles whatever bc it is safer and more profitable, same as they do with the movies, they do like 20/80 rule and respect law of diminishing returns, the diff in revenue between halo and some mid ass game with a lot of extra content is not that big to justify like the huge extra effort and risk to make smth like halo for just a bit extra revenue, there are always going to be whales to simp out money for doom no matter how mid the game is.. most people are just happy with mid slop and don t know or care to appreciate the good stuff anyway and when any hobbies goes mainstream profitable to the masses, this happens.. so the next doom will be mid ok enjoybable but not wow, same as gta vi will be.. the masses of sheep will still love it.. if people only played the really good shit and touched grass otherwise, shit would be different but we love consuming content as much as possible and are willing to sacrifice quality for quantity..
