I’m a ftm with poor social skills and did overnight stocking for three years and it was great. You only interact with other people for around two hours (when the store is just closing/opening and when you’re putting the goods that are on the pallets on u boats with your coworkers). It’s chill and the pay is decent. You get a lot of steps in as well. I just watched YouTube vids and podcasts the whole time.

Factory work is really quite relaxing and nice. It's endlessly repetitive and no one talks to you. I entered into a waking meditative state when in full swing.

The question is ideal work for autists, not ideal work for humanity. Ideal work for humanity is to kill the rich. But that's not a job. At least outside of dungeons and dragons.

I was a PCB designer for a bit… really its a very niche field, every firm only needs a one to a handful of designers, which means there isn’t enough will to train new hires, and hardly any higher educational programs for it, until! Until the boomer designers have to retire and the firm is forced to train up a new guy. You CANNOT get AI to do this, it is too much autism. In fact, we frequently used AI as a tool, and the mess it created could only ever be considered a rough draft without hours of cleanup. I ended up burning out because it was highly corporate at that specific job, but I wanna ooch my way back in as we see more and more startups outsourcing design work, increasingly to domestic firms that are increasingly full of retiring and dying boomers.

Not lived with one for a longer time, but had a relationship with one and have good friends who have diagnosed autism.
Also chances are quite high that I'm autistic myself, never got the differential diagnosis as a kid when I was diagnosed with ADHD, and now I just don't trust psychologists or psychiatrists anymore to get myself any diagnosis (also I function relatively well, so no need to bother I guess)

Engineering. That’s what I’m trying to get into. I ultimately have been trying to do this since I was a little kid. Another solution is getting into Computer engineering, it combines electrical engineering and CS which is good for a lot of the CS majors. Even then, cybersecurity and ethical hacking isn’t going anywhere because if you are in that field, ai isn’t fucking over people, it’s the shitty corporations who don’t want to hire people and give them higher wages.

CS isn't completely dead but you'd have to specialize in something complex, preferably something that has a physical component to it.
I would not want to be just starting out in CS right now, the heyday of it as a field for calm introverted shy nerds is long gone.
