So what do trannies do about the bike seats?

So what do trannies do about the bike seats?

Trans men can't ride men's bikes and trans women can't ride women's bikes. Unless you want to out yourself as a tranny by attaching a women's seat to a men's bike and vice versa.

Saddles.jpg - 664x465, 39.68K

literally nobody cares about this

Trans men can't ride men's bikes and trans women can't ride women's bikes

can you explain why this is true? I've ridden women's bikes just fine

I never understood how anybody with balls is supposed to use any bike seat

Just get a sit down bike lmao

...there are different types of bike seats for different sexes?

Idk i dont bike

i never even knew this existed.

most bikes and seats are unisex idk what ur on about

you sit on your taint not your balls and the gash in those seats is supposed to put less pressure on the taint and distribute it onto the bones on either side
plus it's an activity not a couch to plap down on so when your legs are active there is not that much weight on the seat

I used to cycle most days of the week and both my parents are long road cyclists. I do not know what "gender" of seat I've ever had or they had. Is this some marketing shit?

I see women (cis obviously) riding “male” bikes all the time and I’ve rode a “female” bike without problems. Retarded thread tbhon

What? I've always ridden a male bike

T. pooner

as long as it's not pink or something.. you might just have a joint problem or whatever

what the fuck is a male or female bike, its a fucking bike lol. is this like a male/female glasses thing?

this is an irrational pet peeve of mine. "men's bikes" and "women's bikes" is a marketing meme, bike companies can't even maintain a consistent stack:reach in the same model for the same supposed frame sexing, but we're supposed to believe a slightly different bell curve for ape index or sit bone width requires a whole different production line for "women's bikes products"

it's a scam and an obnoxious one at that. you can turn a men's saddle into a woman's saddle by sliding the rails forward by 3.5mm

all this garbage was introduced when wokies decided that step-thru frames for women was sexist and the women should have performance-oriented race bikes just like the men, but god forbid bike shops actually help women by swapping out stems and cranks the way they do for serious male riders, NOOOOO we have to paint them pink and go for the same voodoo that they used for step-thru frames preserving women's ovaries circa 1908

The only difference between them is that the men's are more uncomfortable

I can't ride a bike, nobody taught me, I also can't swim : (

They're "unisex" in the sense that they're designed for men but not visually distinctively gendered
Wider hips and shorter legs would ideally demand wider bottom bracket spacing and shorter crank arms. Otherwise geometry is pretty much the same.
That said this is a dumb thread, sage

wider bottom bracket spacing

???

I've never heard of such a thing in my life. q factor is easily addressed with cleat position and in the worst case pedal axles, why would you develop a whole different BB shell just to shill lady bikes to the ladies, I mean I wouldn't put it past some of these companies but it just sounds crazy

It is (or was 10 years ago) liv's whole selling point. I haven't bought anything performance oriented in a long time so idk what the current marketing bullshit is. I'd absolutely believe that everyone just called them on their bullshit and moved on, though it looks like the brand still exists. Customer's always right etc

the existence of liv is honestly the one thing that stopped me from being a retarded giant simp, in every other way the brand and the company story appeals to me, just a no-nonsense made in taiwan company that ignores "the rules" without intending to be edgy

but liv is a stain on their reputation and they will never live that down

I'm honestly just surprised to see it still exists, but if it gets more women into cycling then sure why not

I'm not sure if it does. I mean it might but why should it?

If a man has problems of comfort he'll go online and try to find answers. Maybe he needs core strength or better flexibility or maybe he needs a different stem or something

If a woman has comfort problems and is immediately told 'well actually cycling industry caters to men and you just aren't a man so you need to buy these special women's bike parts, oh, no women's bike parts that solve this problem? It must be the patriarchy, oh well go play with your elliptical cardio bunny and let the men have their bikes'

maybe I'm just being cynical but parts availability is enough of an issue without inventing new problems

when wokies decided that step-thru frames for women was sexist

Wtf but step-thru frames are gigabased and like 80% of cyclists would be better served by a step-thru than their current super extra gigachad outdoor trail mountain bike they take down the flat city street for 15 minutes a day

ive been a roadie for 10 years now lemme weigh in. on average, amab will have sit bones measure between 10-14cm, and afab between 12-16cm. amab have a more sensitive perineum with a larger area and softer tissue, the testicles are irrelevant unless abnormally huge. the main difference between male and female saddles are width and the cutout. afab usually need a wider saddle, and amab need a larger or deeper cutout. the times when this really matters is on a road bike, which have narrower, stiffer, less padded saddles by default, and road cyclists can spend many hours in the saddle. with humans falling into a bell curve, there's lots of overlap between men and women, but there can be extreme outliers too. most saddles will work for most people, but never underestimate how much difference the "right" saddle can make for you. personally speaking, i am mtf, with 13.5cm sit bones (measured center to center) and it took me a long time to find a comfortable saddle. i opted for a mens specific saddle after trying out both mens and womens. the womens saddles had a suitable width but shorter length and minimal cutout, i found that my perineum would become numb and painful after 20 minutes. i settled on the SR Men's Comp saddle, by Ergon. they've done extensive product testing, pressure mapping and research and pinpointed the main differences between amab and afab pelvic structure, soft tissue and seating position. afab often lean further forward with a more flexible hip joint, but sit further back into the saddle as a result, so they have womens saddles with a higher tail and shorter nose, as one example. i must have tried 10 different saddles before i settled. id highly recommend measuring your sitbones, you can sit on cardboard and measure your impression as one way to do it. check out the Ergon website for more info if youre interested, they seem to be the most open and comprehensive with their saddle data. good luck lmk if i can help more :)

a sloping top tube (thanks giant!) solves 90% of the problem that step-thru purports to solve without making the bike unmanageable when you dismount and need to keep both hands on the bars because you can't use your legs to keep the frame from falling over, step-thru is an anachronism that serves no purpose at this point other than to look twee and obnoxious for a 2009 hipster aesthetic

maybe I'm just being cynical

Nah I think that's definitely part of it, but I'm sure there's also some number of women that *do* want a "girl" bike, or would feel better knowing that some amount of care (purportedly) went into the design. Whether that's actually the case, or valuable, is an altogether different question.

I would be delighted if Anon Babble took all the bikeposters off Anon Babble, leaving us to discuss actual transportation

"Actual transportation" meaning what, whining about nimbys and parking minimums?

Bikeposters have been a staple on Anon Babble since it was converted from proto-Anon Babble, it's the urbanists that ruined the board not us

qt3point14.jpg - 750x1022, 172.24K

if u were trutrans you'd get the female one even if it felt worse

love that hari pic
bikeposters hoard more of the catalog, both are a drag though. the maritime posts have piqued my interest lately, but it's the rails I go for. if bikefags and urbanists want to talk about cars so much they should go to Anon Babble

but I don't want to talk about cars at all, I don't have a car, I have no interest in cars, I like bikes, that's why I want urbanists to leave

you're thinking of Anon Babble. urbanists on Anon Babble post about trains

no, I'm thinking of Anon Babble. urbanists only mention trains tangentially because trains are a sort of foreign abstraction to them that exist for the purposes of upsetting their parental figures. they all live in texas and kansas city and places like that which is why they can't stop flooding the board with the same reused pictures of houston parking lots. if you try talking about actual trains with them you'll just get a blank stare and they'll mutter something about the NJB guy's latest video on why north america should be nuked

Yeah man, I think if she's 6 feet tall there's easier ways to clock someone before you go on a ride

i use a "women's reacreational" and im mtf and it's completely irrelevant. this is just bs marketing

i thought it was dumb but i also didn't want to buy a men's bike so...
i have no idea about the seat or branch angles or whatever shit people are going on about

there's a lot more than the seat that makes your bike look like mens' or womens'. I don't even have a normal seat. straight bars and more masculinecor dark colors are male bikes, curved bars with pastel colors are female bikes.

Super Mario would like to have a word with you
