It's a strange feeling. Every time the president makes a new change it makes me freeze up for a moment. Knowing that my home country isn't a home for me anymore. I didn't even know what to say when my mom called me crying about Trump's first executive orders. (Before you think she's supportive/an ally, she voted for him).

Yes and no. I'm proud of the ideals that the country supposedly stands for (freedom and self-actualization specifically), but I'm ashamed that those ideals have been neglected for so long that they've been thrown away entirely.

I'm trying to hope that the country will return to its libertarian ideals when Trump leaves power, but it feels as if enough damage has been done that it may not recover (at least for a long time after). I just hope that there's a day I can bring my boyfriend to the home I once respected, because I'm not going back while it's like this.

I hope those of us who cant leave can find a way to get through this time, and that their lives and happiness don't get put at further risk. Maybe one day the voting population will realize that we were never the problem, but we're such a small minority that people will probably forget we exist until the government finds another way to make us suffer, and then they'll cheer as we lose even more of our rights and dignity.

desu I've been feeling so mixed too. The country's been paralyzed and fucked for so long that I was already pessimistic, and so with this bringing all of it to a much stupider and clumsier focal point sooner than I think most people expected, there actually feels like more hope than before that at least those of us who are conscious and even care finally know the stakes and are starting to act like it.

I think the #1 thing is that these people, the underlying enablers in the populace and the system have been exposed for what they are 100x better than their more puerile and incomplete form during for instance the Bush and Obama era, so anyone left with a shred of dignity or consciousness realizes how dire it is.
