I'm actually having an opinion about the use of the word sissy as a slur too.
Sissy culture is actually pretty well developed and has a lot of overlap with transgender culture. We share a LOT of the same struggles. And the root of the hate is the same trans misogyny that trans women get. That it's somehow degrading to be a woman and to indulge in femininity in a sexual way.
You're treating it as an insult because you know it's inaccurate, but I'm supposed to be offended because it's somehow okay to be a trans woman but wrong to be a sissy? Nah, they're not hurting anyone, and some of them are really nice.

these are both weak evidence the speaker is a terf, and moderate evidence the speaker isn't particularly familiar with trans people. this form is commonly used and by itself isn't going to piss most people off, but the form with the space is usually preferred.
the literal meaning of "transsexual" is fine but it's also an exosemantic gang sign for one side of a dispute within the trans community. you may step into a conflict you don't understand and don't want any part of if you use it.

you really don't wanna open that can of worms. transsexual is sometimes considered unaccepting and hostile by some people so you probably should avoid it, but if you call someone who wants to be referred to as transexual "transgender" they'll probably just ask you not to or be preformatively annoyed or something
